Frogne partners with TomTom on better real-time traffic data
Frogne is pleased to announce a new commercial partnership with Dutch company TomTom, a global leader in navigation, traffic and mapping technology.
Frogne will leverage TomTom’s insight into traffic flows and distance optimization to improve the accuracy of estimated arrival times (ETA) and total journey time (ETT), which will both improve operational efficiency and service experience for all Frogne customers, in taxi as well as social and disability transportation.
“More accurate and up-to-date real-time traffic data is one of the ways mobility providers can reduce total travel time, partly in the form of faster travel time and thus shorter waiting time for the customer, as well as more precise and useful information about delays that have occurred,” explains Director Kaare Frogne.
In today’s busy and often unpredictable traffic situation, with more cars on the road around the clock, bottlenecks, roadworks, road closures, accidents, etc., knowledge of the real traffic situation is becoming increasingly important for mobility providers who make a living by bringing citizens quickly and safely from A to B.
With better real-time traffic data at hand combined with historical data on speeds and accessibility on given routes, it is possible for dispatchers to dynamically calculate alternative routes and arrival times for the driver. And thus give the driver even better opportunities to inform the customer.
From experience, we know that customers value correct and timely traffic information. Therefore, the new real-time traffic data will be included in our universal suite of navigation solutions, Frogne Maps. We expect to be able to offer our mobility customers the new TomTom-based real-time traffic data in Q3 this year”, concludes Kaare Frogne.
